HISTORY

Etienne Meirlaen and his female Yelena

Etienne Meirlaen is a true champion in long distance and extreme long distance (750 to 800 km). He has been one of the main rivals in international long distance racing with a breed of pigeons that has also proved its worth in many other lofts. In 2014 Etienne became the third national long distance champion with adult KBDB birds. He also won a double victory at the national in Pau, a provincial first prize in Agen and had three pigeons at his disposal at the KBDB national championship.

The 2015 season was, equally, impressive, with no less than 28 pigeons in the national or international top 100, including:

-3rd National St.Vincent 3,037 p.
-5th National Jarnac adults 3.879 p.
-6th National Agen 3,524 p.
-7th International Agen 6.042 p.
-8th National Jarnac yearlings 4.559 p.

In his list of winners there are also other very important prizes such as:

-1st International Narbonne adult birds in 2011.
-1st National Cahors in 2012
-1st National As Paloma Extreme Long Distance KBDB 2008 and 2009
-General Champion of Belgium in 2011.

It is a fact that Etienne Meirlaen is a prominent name in the history of pigeon racing in Belgium. The grandmaster in national and international competitions has created a breed of superclass birds. His first class breeding female Yelena (which has the rare A/A gene of LDHA genotype) is the basis of many birds that have obtained very remarkable results in the last seasons. Many other fanciers have won important prizes at national and international level by competing with Meirlaen bloodlines. Etienne won for two years in a row the 1st National Long Distance Pigeon KBDB. The first year he did it with the birds Cor and Asduivin and the second year with Lady Perpignan.

The legacy Yelena, the best long distance breeder in the world

The best female Meirlaen has is the bird Yelena. DNA tests have shown that this excellent female possesses the A/A gene of the LDHA genotype (the A variant has been found in a number of ace pigeons and world class champions all over the world). In other words, her breeding value is more than proven by science. Yelena is the mother and grandmother of some great palmareses racers:

 -1st International Narbonne 2011 - 12.605 p.
-1st National Narbonne 2011 - 6.428 p.
-4th National Montauban 2011 - 9,091 p.
-5th National Montauban 2010 - 6,654 p.
-7th National Montauban 2014 - 5,935 p.
-10th National Montauban 2012 - 6,822 p.
-11th National Narbonne 2010 - 6.330 p.
-3rd National Agen 2014 - 3.180 yearlings
-11th National Agen 2014 - 8.845 yearlings
-13th National Narbonne 2014 - 2.835 yearlings
-34th International Narbonne 2014 - 8,360 yearlings

It seems that Yelena has found someone to follow in her footsteps, in her son Montali. He is the winner of:

 -4th National Montauban 2011 - 9,091 p.
-12th National Montauban 2010 - 6,654 p.
