HISTORY

Stefaan Lambrechts, Berlaar breeding expert

Stefaan Lambrechts is a young pigeon fancier who has been interested in homing pigeons since he was a child. When he was only two years old, he was already in his uncle Cyriel's loft.

In 1987, when Stefaan was 9 years old, he started, with the support of his uncles Cyriel and Emmanuel, to race pigeons on his own. It quickly became apparent that Stefaan had a natural talent for homing birds as 1998 was his first outstanding year. At that time, he only flew the shortest distances as far as Quievrain and Noyon. Stefaan Lambrechts' colony of birds consists of pigeons acquired by Geert Lambrechts, the late Jos van Loock from Berlaar, Bart Hendrickx from Berlaar, Leo Heremans and mainly of pigeons from Dirk van den Bulck from Gobbendonk. The latter pigeons have had an immense influence on his present lineage.

Stefaan Lambrechts has one of the most valuable breeding lofts in Belgium. Not many fanciers have a National Ace Pigeon (Lincia), a 2nd (188/13), 3rd (Den Tornado), 7th (Christiane), 9th (Ynthe) and 14th (Aure) position and the parents and grandparents of a 1st Olympic pigeon, as well as several first positions in provincial championships and Ace Pigeons at club level, in the same loft. Lambrechts is not willing to sell any of his proven racing birds or breeding stock. His main goal is to make his breed even stronger and this can only be achieved by keeping the most valuable birds in the loft. In fact, he often tries to bring back birds from his own bloodline that have been successful in other lofts.

Master breeder

The secret of Lambrechts' success lies mainly in the fact that he tries to pair only good birds. This explains why Stefaan's pigeons are now in great demand all over the world. Many have had excellent results with the lineages of Blauwe Gert, Van Loockduivin, Olympic Poot and others. Nothing satisfies a fancier more than the perfect combination, a union that leads to brilliant results. Matching different lineages or pigeons is not an exact science, but Stefaan's approach significantly increases the chances of success. Several other fanciers in the Netherlands have already adopted his approach as well, including, for example, W.A. De Bruyn, Kas Meyers and Eijerkamp.

Lincia, his star bird

Stefaan Lambrechts reaped one of his greatest successes in the 2015 season when he won 1st National As Pigeon of the KBDB in the young bird category in middle distance. It was the pigeon Lincia that won the renowned award. This bird obtained the best coefficient ever recorded in history with 0483%. It also obtained a 9th and a 14th position KBDB As Paloma in the same category and during 2015.

One of the key principles of pigeon racing is to try to match good birds with good birds. This is particularly true for fanciers with a large collection of high quality breeding stock, such as Stefaan. Lambrechts always goes for well-defined pairings. In fact, he himself has stated that he always tries to find the perfect sire and dam for breeding. On breeding day, the males perch in the middle of their nest and Stefaan gives the female the opportunity to try to find the most suitable mate. The fancier is very meticulous to get rid of any imperfections. The end result is a high percentage of near-perfect offspring. His approach has enabled him to become an important supplier of AS for lofts all over the world. Lambrechts is an expert in breeding.

Stefaan decided in 2016 to start racing from two different locations. His team in Berlaar competes in his favourite discipline: the shortest middle distance. On the other hand, his pigeons in Nijlen race under the name of his children Ynthe Aure and Lincia Lambrechts, and compete in sprint races against some of the best teams in Antwerp.

Some of their best results are:
-Lincia: 1st National 1st National As Paloma KBDB
-Super 188 2nd National As Paloma KBDB
-Tournament 3rd National As Paloma KBDB

Hard work and a strict selection approach have turned Stefaan into a top pigeon fancier. His results are based on a breeding loft with exceptional birds, which has benefited fanciers at home and abroad. Champions such as Lincia, Super 188, Tornado, Blauwe Gert and Van Loockduivin are just some of the many invaluable pigeons in Stefaan's collection. These birds excel in races from 100 to 500 km. It is not known what will happen in the future, but one thing is clear: Stefaan Lambrechts' loft is growing to become an exceptionally valuable lineage capable of breeding first class racing birds for races up to 500 km.
