For Dirk Van Dick, pigeon racing is not just a hobby. Raised in Zandhoven, Belgium, this pigeon fancier considers the pigeon world his life's work. Together with his wife Anna and daughter Natalia, his loft is considered one of the most recognized and important in Belgium.
It all started in 1973, together with his uncle Jos Dillen, who soon became his teacher. They trained short distance pigeons from breeders such as Frans Van Beirendonck and André Bellens among others, obtaining year after year new pigeons from other lineages.
Dirk Van Dyck had his peak in the world of pigeon racing in the 90's, with a series of pigeons that stood out among the rest; De Kannibaal, De Bourges and De Rambo. Always open to change without caring about new challenges, he has been adding successes in recent years.
These pigeons in the 90's managed to position themselves as 1st National AS-Dove Medio Fondo, 2nd National Bourges and a 1st Prize in the Union Antwerp against a high number of pigeons. It was his pigeon De Kannibaal that brought him worldwide recognition in the pigeon racing world, as he has played a decisive role in modern pigeon racing.
This loft that has been racing since 1973, its pigeons stand out both in individual races and in championships at provincial and national level.
With more than 50 racing pigeons, they compete in traditional widowhood, short distance and medium long distance.
De Kannibaal, their star pigeon, was overall provincial champion K.B.D.B in 2011,2012, 2013 and 2015 against the strongest competition.
